Silvio Meletti started his eponymous company in 1870 who drew inspiration by his mother's Anisette recipe. Self-taught, he studied French distillation from a book written in 1700 that is still in the family's possession. Based in the small city of Ascoli in Marche, central Italy, on the Adriatic sea, Silvio had to promote his products on his own. He entered in International competitions with the first Honorable mention in Paris in 1878.
Meletti uses a Bain-Marie Pot Still that performs a slow and gentle heating, ideal for delicate ingredients and fruit distillates.
Now the firm is run by the fifth generation of the Meletti family who are continuing with the same commitment to quality and craftsmanship.
